On March the 10th 2014, around 6:55 am, my dream started to come true. I left from Lisbon to Madrid, the first of three flights that would take me to Salvador da Bahia in Brazil, country that I chose to start my small journey around the world and the Portuguese speaking countries, a journey I long wished for. It was on board of an A319 on the way to Barajas that I met João. Like me he also had a long journey ahead of him, so he took a book with him. He told me he hesitated between Tchekhov and Kafka short stories, but he chose the last ones. So, he was reading the first volume of Kafka short stories, publisherd in Portugal by Assírio&Alvim. Kafka is an author João knows well: besides studying is work in college, he read several of his texts, namely "The Trial", “The Metamorphosis” and "Amérika". “I really like the author", he said, "although he is difficult. The tales are short, but they are very dense."
