Para a Maria ler é entrar num universo diferente, é passar por experiências que de outra forma não viveria, é viajar. Leitora habitual de policiais, livros de aventuras e de literatura de viagem, diz que ainda é cedo para apontar o livro da sua vida, mas recorda que "Os Filhos da Lâmpada", "O Meu Pé de Laranja Lima" e, mais recentemente, "Uma Morte Súbita" a marcaram muito. Quando a conheci no Metro do Porto, a Maria contou-me que este ano descobriu a velhinha Colecção Vampiro do pai e que ficou fascinada não só com a qualidade literária dos livros, mas também com as histórias emocionantes que contam. Foi com um desses livros que a fotografei.

To Maria, reading is going into a different universe,
is going through experiences she wouldn't live any other way, is travelling. A
usual reader of detective stories, adventure books and travelling literature,
she says it is still early to choose the book of her life, but she remembers
that "Children of the Lamp", "My Sweet-Orange Tree" and,
recently "The Cuckoo’s Calling" touched her very much. When I met her
at Porto subway, Maria told me that this year she found out her father's old
Coleção Vampiro and that she was fascinated not only with the book's literary
quality but also with the thrilling stories they tell. She was with one of
those old books when I took her picture.
