Tenho de admiti-lo: sei muito pouco sobre Miguel Miranda. Soube primeiro que era escritor, quando passou a editar os seus livros na editora onde trabalho. Só depois descobri que também é médico e que os seus pacientes se encontram por entre os seus leitores mais fiéis. Muito mais tarde, por causa destas coisas dos blogues e dos livros, amigámo-nos no Facebook e, finalmente, em dezembro de 2013 conhecemo-nos na reunião inaugural do Clube Literário de Gaia, que tem em Miguel Miranda um dos principais dinamizadores. Foi aí que o fotografei com o seu mais recente livro (acabado de sair da gráfica e na altura ainda indisponível nas livrarias), "A Fome do Licantropo e Outras Histórias", um conjunto de 25 contos que abordam profissões, das mais vulgares às mais estranhas. Sei muito pouco sobre Miguel Miranda, mas já pude testemunhar o seu dom da palavra e o humor refinado. Aposto, por isso, que ler este seu último trabalho será um momento muito bem passado.
I have to admit: I know very little about Miguel Miranda. First I knew he was a writer, when he started publishing his books at the publisher where I work. Only after I found out that he is also a doctor and that his patients are among his more loyal readers. Much later, because of these things of blogs and books, we became Facebook friends and, finally in December 2013 we met at the opening meeting of Gaia Literary Club, who has in Miguel Miranda one of the main organizers. There, I took his picture with his latest book (fresh out of the printer and at the time still unavailable on the bookstores), "A Fome do Licantropo e Outras Histórias", a mix of 25 short stories about jobs, from the more common to the more bizarre. I don’t know much about Miguel Miranda, but I could testify his gift for words and his refined sense of humor. So, I bet reading his last work will be a moment well spent.
