Salvador da Bahia - Mariana & Dan Brown

Conheci a Mariana no autocarro que me levou da Avenida Sete de Setembro, no centro de Salvador, para o bairro de Itaigara, num fim de dia em que chovia torrencialmente. Desabou sobre a cidade uma daquelas chuvadas tropicais com direito a relâmpagos e trovões. Num ápice a água começou a tomar conta das estradas e dos passeios e as pessoas faziam os possíveis para abrigar-se em qualquer canto, tarefa nada fácil. Eu ainda consegui proteger-me, mas a Mariana estava ensopada. Esta estudante de Artes, filha de pai arquitecto, sentou-se atrás de mim e pegou no livro que lhe foi emprestado por um amigo. Teria uns 45 minutos para ler "Inferno", de Dan Brown, até chegar ao seu destino. "O primeiro que li foi Anjos e Demónios e apaixonei-me perdidamente pelo livro. Depois li todos os outros livros do autor. São todos maravilhosos! Adoro as descrições de edifícios, quadros, da arte em geral, a forma como se aprende através da ficção", afirmou.

I met Mariana on the bus that took me from the Sete de Setembro Avenue, in dowtown Salvador, to the Itaigara neighborhood, on the end of a day of heavy rains. One of those tropical rains poured down the entire city with huge lightning bolts and loud thunders. At a glance, water took over the roads and sidewalks and people did their best to take shelter in every corner, although a difficult task. I managed to protect myself, but Mariana was soaked. This Art student, daughter of an Architect, sat behind me and grabbed the book borrowed from a friend. She would have 45 minutes to read "Inferno", by Dan Brown, until she arrived to her destination. "The first I read was “Angels and Demons" and I fell madly in love for the book. Then I read all the other books of the author. All of them are wonderful! I love the descriptions of buildings, paintings, art in general, the way we learn through fiction", she stated.
